Protests have intensified across Assam’s Barak Valley in response to the recent Bangladesh-related incident, with multiple political and social organisations taking to the streets to register their dissent. Groups including the Bajrang Dal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and several local organisations have been staging demonstrations, burning effigies of Yunus and demanding a firm response.
Amid the growing unrest, residents of Nathanpur village, situated along the sensitive India–Bangladesh border, have expressed strong solidarity with the Border Security Force (BSF). The villagers have also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive action in view of the developments, citing concerns over national security and regional stability.
In response to the situation, the BSF has significantly tightened security along the Barak Valley’s international border. Enhanced surveillance has been put in place across farmlands, granaries, border villages and vulnerable stretches of the frontier. Security personnel remain on high alert to prevent any attempt by hostile elements from across the border to threaten Indian territory.
To assess the ground situation and public sentiment in the border areas, Aaj Tak conducted a special interaction with residents of Nathanpur. Villagers asserted that regardless of provocations or attempts at destabilisation, India’s northeastern states—often referred to as the “Seven Sisters”—remain secure due to the unwavering presence and preparedness of the BSF.
The residents expressed confidence in the BSF’s capabilities, describing the force as a formidable deterrent against any external threat. As tensions continue to simmer, the situation in the Barak Valley and along the India–Bangladesh border remains under close watch by security agencies.
