Kashmiris determined to carry martyrs’ mission to its logical conclusion

Hurriyat leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the ongoing large-scale cordon and search operations, house raids, and mass arrests unleashed by the India’s Hindutva BJP government and its installed LG regime against the peace- and freedom-loving people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyat leaders and organizations—including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Fayaz Hussain Jafari, Maulana Syed Sibte Shabbir Qomi, Adv. Arshad Iqbal, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Hafiza Fehmida Bano, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Muslim League, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Tehreek Khawateen Kashmir, and others—issued separate statements from Srinagar condemning the intensified crackdown. They said that over the past three days, hundreds of Kashmiri youths have been arrested and shifted to jails and torture centres across the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region.

The statements said these arrests are part of a deliberate and systematic policy to intimidate and subjugate Kashmiris, aimed at breaking their will and distancing them from their political demand for the right to self-determination, acknowledged under UN resolutions.

They said the Modi-led BJP government continues to make hollow claims of normalcy in the occupied territory, while ground realities depict a grim picture of repression and fear, with the entire territory under military and police siege.

The leaders noted that under black laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Indian forces continue atrocities, harassment, arrests, and terrorization of innocent and unarmed Kashmiris.

They further stated that the illegal detention of thousands of Kashmiris—including prominent Hurriyat leaders and activists—along with the suspension of civil liberties, gagging of dissent, dismissal of Muslim government employees, and seizure of homes and land expose the Modi regime’s false propaganda of peace and development in IIOJK.

They added that India is attempting to mislead the international community through its fabricated narrative on Kashmir, and urged the world to come forward and resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.

Reaffirming the unwavering resolve of the Kashmiri people, the statements said no amount of repression can crush their stand or the spirit of their just demand for a plebiscite or freedom. “Despite India’s brutalities, state terrorism, conspiracies, and deceit, Kashmiris remain steadfast and determined to carry forward the mission of their martyrs to its logical conclusion,” they added.

They urged the international community, including the United Nations, the OIC, and the European Union, to take serious notice of India’s escalating human rights abuses and atrocities in the occupied territory, and to press New Delhi to implement UN resolutions ensuring the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leaders—including Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Zahid Safi, Zahid Ashraf, Aijaz Rehmani, Shameem Shawl, and Javeed Iqbal Butt—expressed serious concern over the massive operations, house raids, and arrests of youth in IIOJK. They urged the UN and OIC to intervene to rescue the oppressed people from Indian state terrorism and resolve the issue in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Altaf Hussain Wani, Chairman of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR), in a letter to Special Rapporteur Ben Saul, called for early intervention by the United Naitions against India’s escalating repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Wani highlighted a renewed wave of arbitrary detentions, illegal mobile surveillance, and intensified military operations, creating a pervasive climate of fear and intimidation. He noted that nearly 3,000 Kashmiris—including journalists, activists, and doctors—have been detained under draconian laws such as the UAPA and PSA, while 244 military operations have resulted in killings, arrests, and illegal attachment of civilian properties. Wani condemned India’s mandate for CCTV installation in Jammu’s shops and businesses as a breach of privacy and a violation of freedom of expression, and warned that counter-terrorism laws are increasingly being misused to target medical professionals and other civilians under fabricated pretexts.
