A mosque, several Muslim homes, shops, and vehicles were set ablaze in Kumarghat, Unakoti district of Tripura in a shocking display of anti-Muslim violence. The attacks followed the refusal of a Muslim trader to contribute to a Hindu puja ahead of the upcoming Bhairab Mela.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hindu mobs in the Saydarpara Shimultala area under Fatikroy police station unleashed widespread arson and vandalism, deliberately targeting Muslim properties. Civilians sustained injuries as attackers blocked roads, set fire to shops and haystacks, and damaged homes. Residents described the attacks as a direct assault on humanity and the Constitution.
Eyewitnesses said that the violence was premeditated and aimed at intimidating the Muslim community. Jakir Hussain, a resident, said, “A mosque was set on fire first, followed by homes and businesses. Despite police presence, the mob carried on, raising serious questions about the protection of minorities.”
