The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has approved the establishment of a dedicated school for children with special needs in Miao, Changlang district, marking a significant step toward inclusive education in the state. The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting chaired in Miao on Tuesday, reflects the government’s continued focus on equity, compassion and empowerment, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The school is envisioned as a model institution that will integrate learning, healthcare and empowerment for children with special needs, ensuring equal access to quality education and holistic development opportunities. The education department has been directed to prepare a comprehensive proposal detailing staff requirements and infrastructure plans for the school’s operationalisation.
Once completed, the institution is expected to serve as a pioneering model for inclusive education in Arunachal Pradesh, helping bridge existing gaps in accessibility and specialised support for differently-abled students, the CMO added.
